'Be a rainbow for somebody's cloud'

As another mom and concerns about the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 increases daily, I wanted to personally reach out with some resources and ideas on how we can continue to inspire, connect and empower our kids during these unprecedented times. Here are my favorite four ideas:

1. Start a Daily Journaling Ritual

My 7 year old tends to always err on the side of  big emotions and sensitivity. Talks about the coronavirus have put his anxiety and fears at an all time high. To help him manage this on a daily basis, I have started a new bedtime routine. He spends 10-15 minutes writing a journal entry about his day. I give him three questions to answer to help guide him (1) how did you feel today (2) what was something fun you did and (3) what do you look forward to tomorrow. We spend 5 minutes after reading his journal entry and I help re-frame any of his journal entries that are emotion filled into views of empowerment and gratitude. CLICK HERE to see the journal I purchased for him from Amazon.

2. Write a COVID-19 Daily Schedule

Our kids still need some sort of consistency with how their day unfolds. That's why writing down a schedule that includes times to go for a walk, creatively connecting and free TV time might help normalize the next couple of weeks together. CLICK HERE for a sample schedule.

3. Visit a Museum - VIRTUALLY!

I have to admit this is probably one of my favorite resources. These 12 famous museums offer virtual tours you can take from your couch. CLICK HERE to choose the one you'll start with. You can visit one daily!

4. Subscribe FOR FREE to any of these Educational Companies

With schools closing, parents and educators are in a bit of a panic as they figure out how our kids can learn and obtain their education from home. If this sounds like you, stop stressing! This is going to be SUPER HELPFUL! CLICK HERE for the entire list of education companies offering free subscriptions due to school closings.

My prayers are with all of you during this difficult and uncertain times. The way I see it, sometimes if we want the rainbow, we've gotta put up with the rain!
